Senate Majority Leader John Thune has begun the process of taking up legislation to impose new sanction on Russia and Iran, and also confirm dozens of nominees.
The legislation, S. 5025, seeks to make it harder for Russia to sell its oil abroad. It had been a priority for the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and the bill is now named after him.
Lawmakers last week were in the process of adding language for new sanctions against Iran at the request of President Donald Trump. Thune said he was working with Democrats expediting the voting process.

“So I’m hoping we can get it teed up, and then if we could get some sort of limited time agreement to help expedite it on the floor, that would help too,” the leader said last week.
