The House GOP’s floor captain declined Thursday to commit to finishing the budget blueprint for Republicans’ massive domestic policy bill before next month’s two-week recess — even if the Senate can finish up its own work next week.

Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) said in a brief interview that any changes the Senate might make to the budget resolution that the House approved last month could potentially delay final approval of a unified fiscal framework.

The House needs to approve any Senate alterations to finally unlock the party-line process of budget reconciliation and allow Republicans to start drafting the actual legislation.
