Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer set votes Monday on several of President Joe Biden’s nominees to the nation’s courts over Republican objections.

On the list were Sparkle Sooknanan and Amir Ali to serve on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, which often reviews actions dealing with federal agencies and regulations.

Ali is a well-known civil rights advocate. Sooknanan has served as principal deputy assistant attorney general for the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.
