The Senate will take a final roll call Wednesday on Department of Energy nominee Wells Griffith after voting to wind down debate mostly along party lines.

The chamber voted 47-41 to advance President Donald Trump’s pick for DOE energy undersecretary. All Republicans present and Sen. Angus King, a Maine independent who caucuses with Democrats, voted for Griffith on Tuesday evening.

Trump this year decided to revive the undersecretary for energy position, reversing a Biden administration decision to create an undersecretary for infrastructure.

A department spokesperson said in a statement that Griffith would be the “principal advisor on energy policy, energy security, and energy research and development.”
