The Senate voted along party lines Wednesday afternoon to advance the nomination of Sean Donahue to be EPA’s top attorney.
The 52-47 cloture vote makes way for a final roll call Thursday on the former solar company attorney who is already serving at the agency general counsel’s office pending confirmation.
Democrats have accused Donahue, who also worked for a law firm in Buffalo before getting fired, of being unqualified for the position. Republicans have been consistent in their support.
Donahue will be responsible for helping EPA administrator Lee Zeldin make sure the agency’s rule-busting agenda can withstand legal scrutiny.
