The Senate on Wednesday advanced Tyler Clarkson for Department of Agriculture general counsel and moved to debate Brian Nesvik to lead the Fish and Wildlife Service.
It’s part of a push by Republican leaders and the White House to confirm dozens of President Donald Trump’s nominees before the planned August recess.
Senators voted to wind down debate on Clarkson, who served during the first Trump administration and has been a biotechnology executive, 53-44 along party lines. A final vote is scheduled for Thursday morning.
Nesvik, a retired Army National Guard brigadier general and former head of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, similarly cleared committee along party lines earlier this year.
