The Senate is returning to administration and judicial nominees this week after voting on Friday to prevent a partial government shutdown.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) moved to take up district court picks for Arkansas, Texas and Alaska, the last of which is of particular interest for energy and environment policy.

Aaron Christian Peterson has since 2019 been a senior assistant attorney general in the Natural Resources Section of the Alaska Department of Law’s Civil Division. He was previously statewide fish and wildlife prosecutor in the department’s Office of Special Prosecutions.
