The Senate Commerce Committee on Thursday advanced three transportation nominees.
The panel approved Seval Oz to be the Department of Transportation’s assistant secretary for research and technology, 16-12; Michael Graham to remain on the National Transportation Safety Board, 21-7; and Richard Kloster to join the Surface Transportation Board, 15-13.
All three got confirmation hearings in 2025 but didn’t receive floor votes, forcing President Donald Trump to renominate them.
Oz, the sister of Medicare and Medicaid chief Mehmet Oz, has been serving as a senior adviser at DOT since September. She has a deep background in autonomous vehicles, a priority area for Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
