A Senate panel approved a roster of marine protection and extreme weather bills Wednesday, as well as a measure to mandate AM radio remain in passenger vehicles.

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee passed the bills by voice vote, after moving 16-12 to advance the nomination of Howard Lutnick for Commerce secretary. Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was the sole Democrat to vote for Lutnick.

Of the bipartisan bills — the majority of which are returning from previous terms — S. 315, the “AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act,” garnered the most attention.
