The Senate on Monday confirmed Chris Wright to lead the Department of Energy.
Lawmakers voted 59-38 for the Liberty Energy CEO, including Democrats like Senate Energy and Natural Resources ranking member Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico, John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet of Colorado, Ruben Gallego of Arizona and Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, as well as Angus King of Maine, an independent who caucuses with Democrats.
The chamber earlier voted 51-46 along party lines to take up the nomination of Russ Vought to lead the White House Office of Management and Budget.
The Senate on Monday evening was also poised to take a procedural vote on Pam Bondi for attorney general. A final vote could happen as soon as Tuesday.
