The Senate is planning to confirm President Donald Trump’s latest nominees to the Interior and Energy departments, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The nominees will likely pass along party lines Friday in an en bloc package that includes dozens of Trump picks. It was a priority for Senate Republicans before the upcoming August recess.
“This will be clearly 600 people confirmed in the second Trump administration,” said Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) during floor remarks Thursday. “And we’ve done it in the face of historic obstruction from the Democrats.”
Senate Republicans changed the rules last year to allow certain nominees to advance en bloc because Democrats would not allow any to pass quickly by unanimous consent.
