The Senate approved Katharine MacGregor on Wednesday to be Interior deputy secretary, reprising a role she held during the first Trump administration.
The chamber voted 53-40 on MacGregor. Members of the Democratic Caucus who voted yes include Energy and Natural Resources ranking member Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, Maine independent Angus King, John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, and Arizona Sens. Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego.
After serving on Capitol Hill and in the first Trump term, MacGregor went on to hold executive positions for NextEra Energy.
The Senate this week ramped up action on energy and environment nominees. It confirmed James Danly for Department of Energy deputy on Tuesday and will take a procedural vote Wednesday evening on Sean Donahue for EPA general counsel.
