The Senate confirmed President Donald Trump’s nominee to be EPA’s chief legal officer Thursday.
The 51-46 vote lines up Sean Donahue to be general counsel, overseeing about 200 attorneys who work on the agency’s regulations, enforcement, grants and other activities. No Democrat supported him.
Donahue formerly worked at the Buffalo firm Phillips Lytle and at Norbut Solar Farms, a Rochester, New York, solar developer. He worked in nonlegal roles during Trump’s first term in EPA’s land and public records offices.
He was EPA’s principal deputy general counsel earlier this year, though he has been working at the agency as an adviser since March.
