Senate Republicans released their blueprint for budget reconciliation Friday afternoon, outlining their party-line plans for spending and cuts for the first time.
The resolution does not name specific programs that should be targeted, instead providing broad direction to committee chairs who are tasked with finding revenue raisers — such as oil and gas leasing — or cuts from federal agencies.
The Senate Budget Committee, chaired by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), will mark up the fiscal 2025 budget resolution Wednesday and Thursday, with senators looking to officially kick-start the process as House Republicans’ plans remain slow to come together.
“This budget resolution jumpstarts a process that will give President Trump’s team the money they need to secure the border and deport criminals, and make America strong and more energy independent,” Graham said in a statement.
