A Senate panel will discuss cybersecurity threats facing hydropower dams Wednesday amid growing concerns about attacks from foreign adversaries.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water and Power will examine the “federal and non-federal role” for assessing vulnerabilities of water-based energy projects.

The hearing comes as the Biden administration is warning that state-sponsored actors from China and other countries have sought to disrupt critical infrastructure, including electric substations and wastewater treatment plants, through cyberattacks.
