The Senate is poised to confirm former Rep. Steve Pearce to lead the Bureau of Land Management along with other energy and environment nominees before the end of the week.

Lawmakers will take another procedural vote Monday evening under new rules allowing the confirmation of certain administration picks en bloc. The package will likely proceed along party lines.

Pearce, a New Mexico Republican, is among the most contentious nominees in the package because of his ties to the oil and gas industry and his past support for public land sales.

Pearce and his wife, Cynthia, have either given up or promised to give up their ownership stakes in oil and gas leases. The nominee also said he would not pursue the broad sale of federal lands.
