The Senate will take up one of President Donald Trump’s nominees to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission when the chamber returns from recess next week.

Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) moved Tuesday night to wind down debate on Ho Nieh, who cleared the Environment and Public Works Committee last month with bipartisan support.

Democrats have expressed concern about the White House’s interventions at NRC. Nieh, a former agency official, promised during his confirmation hearing to be independent.
