The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee will vote this week on bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the nation’s pipeline safety regulator.

The panel will consider the yet-to-be-released bill, the “PIPELINE Safety Act of 2025,” from Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and ranking member Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.).

The legislation is the first effort from the committee to reauthorize the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s safety programs since 2020.
