Republicans on the Senate Budget Committee advanced the nomination of Dan Bishop for deputy budget director Wednesday, about a week after he told them he supports withholding funds Congress has appropriated.
Also, President Donald Trump’s science adviser nominee, Michael Kratsios, sailed out of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee in a 24-4 vote.
The Budget committee voted 11-10, along party lines, to send Bishop’s nomination to the full Senate, where he could get a confirmation vote in the coming weeks.
A former member of Congress from North Carolina, Bishop would be second in command to Russ Vought, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget.
