Senate Democrats have agreed to relaunch permitting reform negotiations after walking away when the administration moved to block offshore wind projects in December.
Environment and Public Works ranking member Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Energy and Natural Resources ranking member Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) made the announcement in a statement Thursday evening.
Their new posture follows reports the Interior Department has begun reviewing approvals for new solar and onshore wind development.
“After discussions with our colleagues, we have decided to reopen negotiations on permitting reform. We are hopeful that recent developments are indicative of a positive direction from the Trump administration,” said the statement from Heinrich and Whitehouse.
