The Senate Judiciary Committee this week will look to connect China with attempts to hold back the U.S. energy industry.

The hearing, “Enter the Dragon — China and the Left’s Lawfare Against American Energy Dominance,” appears to be designed to draw lines between China and policies by Democrats meant to reduce domestic fossil fuel production and use. It’s been organized by the panel’s Subcommittee on Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action and Federal Rights, chaired by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

In a separate hearing, Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights will also likely touch on energy policy. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) will chair the hearing, titled “Deregulation & Competition: Reducing Regulatory Burdens to Unlock Innovation and Spur New Entry.”

Spokespeople for Cruz and Lee did not return requests for more information about the hearings or witnesses, and a spokesperson for Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) referred questions to those offices.
