Senate Majority Leader John Thune has moved to wind down debate on Aaron Szabo to lead EPA’s air office as Republicans look to clear up a backlog of nominees.
Szabo cleared the Environment and Public Works Committee along party lines in March. He has been waiting since then for floor time. Szabo will now likely be confirmed by the end of the week.
“The American people gave President Trump a mandate, and he deserves to have his team in place to execute that mandate for the American people,” Thune said during floor remarks Monday.
Szabo helped write the EPA chapter of Project 2025, the governing blueprint assembled by The Heritage Foundation. During his confirmation hearing, he suggested addressing climate change would not be a priority.
