Senate sets vote on RFK Jr. nomination

The Senate will take another procedural vote Wednesday on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. A final vote will happen soon after.

Lawmakers will move to wind down debate on Kennedy after confirming former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to lead the intelligence community.

Gabbard and Kennedy once seemed to be among President Donald Trump’s most imperiled nominees, but pressure from the president’s allies helped secure their path.

“It’s interesting that Democrats have saved some of their fiercest opposition for two of our nominees this week, Mr. Kennedy and Tulsi Gabbard, who interestingly enough are former Democrats. I wonder if Democrats are unhappy to see the elevation of individuals who became disillusioned with the Democrat Party,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.).
