The Senate plans to vote Wednesday to confirm Lee Zeldin for EPA administrator and wind down debate on Doug Burgum for Interior secretary.
Zeldin cleared the Environment and Public Works Committee last week by a vote of 11-8. Just one Democrat — moderate Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona — joined Republicans to support President Donald Trump’s selection. The full Senate plans a procedural vote early in the afternoon followed by a final vote soon after.
The chamber also plans to take an initial procedural vote on Burgum, the former North Dakota governor, who cleared the Energy and Natural Resources Committee last week by a vote of 18-2.
Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright, who similarly passed the committee with bipartisan support, will likely be up for Senate floor debate after Burgum is confirmed.
