The Senate will vote Tuesday on legislation that would undo a Biden administration regulation affecting offshore drilling.

S.J. Res. 11 from Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) will be the first Congressional Review Act resolution the Senate takes up this year. The House is also planning to vote this week on two other measures.

Kennedy’s legislation would scrap a rule from the Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management finalized at the end of last year. It seeks to better protect shipwrecks and other archaeological materials from the oil and gas industry.

The rule requires every lessee or operator to submit an archaeological report with any exploration or development proposal submitted to BOEM.
