The Senate will vote on Republicans’ failed government funding patch for a 10th time Thursday, as senators continue to discuss pathways to vote on a number of full-year appropriations measures.

While negotiations to get out of the government shutdown are going nowhere, some senators Wednesday talked about the possibility of making more progress on bipartisan fiscal 2026 bills.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said leadership is in the process of determining whether there is unanimous consent to kick off formal negotiations with the House on three Senate-passed spending bills: Agriculture, Legislative Branch and Military Construction-Veterans Affairs.

Thune also set up a Thursday vote to advance the Senate’s bipartisan Defense funding bill, which many Democrats are hoping will be paired with the Labor-HHS-Education bill.
