Sierra Club employees are preparing to picket Tuesday unless they reach a deal with management to end ongoing labor disputes.
Staff in the Progressive Workers Union National Unit is preparing to picket at Sierra Club’s offices in Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles; and Oakland, California, beginning at 8 a.m. local time Tuesday, the union announced Monday.
“Our members are fed up with the endless disrespect for our union and our rights. We’re ready to strike to show the Sierra Club that we matter,” Walter Keady, PWU president and a Sierra Club staffer, said in a statement.
“This strike is not just about bread and butter benefits, it is about setting a clear precedent that our union will not stand for retaliation or any attempt to roll-back key protections for workers at the organization,” Keady said.
