Storm-battered Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina lost four more houses in the first two days of February, the National Park Service reported Tuesday.

All of the houses located in the vulnerable coast village of Buxton were unoccupied at the time of their collapse, and there were no reported injuries.

North Carolina was hit with a record-breaking amount of snow over the weekend, when a powerful “bomb cyclone” storm struck the Southeast.

Along with the nearby coastal village of Rodanthe, Buxton has been hit with repeated house collapses in recent years. With the latest four casualties, the National Park Service reports there have been 31 privately owned oceanfront houses fallen out since 2020.
