California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell and Texas Republican Rep. Tony Gonzalez both announced Monday their intention to leave Congress following sexual misconduct allegations.

Swalwell suspended his campaign to become California governor over the weekend after the San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday about a former staffer accusing him of sexual assault. A CNN report mentioned four women, including a former staffer, accusing him of misconduct.

“I am deeply sorry to my family, staff and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past,” Swalwell said in a statement shared online. “I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the past mistakes I did make.”

Gonzales’ announcement comes weeks after he admitted to having an affair with a staffer. He had already announced his intention to not run for reelection.
