New York’s mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has enlisted environmental justice advocates, the head of a solar trade group and a Green New Deal architect to help him build his city government.
Mamdani this week unveiled a roster of more than 400 people working on 17 transition committees as he prepares to take office in January. That lineup includes 33 people named to the mayor-elect’s Committee on Transportation, Climate and Infrastructure.
Mamdani said in a statement that the team shares “a love for hard-work, a deep belief in the promise of New York City, and a commitment to the affordability agenda that New Yorkers are demanding.”
The Democratic Socialist has called climate change “the existential crisis of our time” and packed his transition team with environmentalists and renewable energy advocates.
