Federal employees panicking about their careers, workers sharing tips about employment lawyers and journalists scouting for news tips have all been glued to Reddit since the Trump administration took office.

The “fednews” forum on the Reddit social media platform has emerged as a popular clearinghouse for federal employees to anonymously share advice with their colleagues, air grievances about the new administration and seek news tips.

As the Trump administration races to dramatically reduce the size of the federal workforce through axing programs, firing staff and incentivizing resignations, government employees have grown increasingly cautious about their communications with colleagues and outsiders.

On Reddit, users can post anonymously about whether they should accept the Trump administration’s “deferred resignation” offer. Others are circulating news clips about Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” efforts.
