The Interior Department placed two top IT officials and a senior attorney on administrative leave last week after a dustup with members of the Elon Musk-led downsizing team.

The officials include Darren Ash, Interior’s chief information officer, according to three people familiar with the incident who were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.

Also removed from their posts and placed on leave were Tony Irish and Stanley Lowe, the agency’s chief information security officer, according to two of the people.

Irish is the associate solicitor for the division of general law, who has worked at the Interior Department in some capacity for at least 20 years. He started in the position in January.
