Former Biden-era Deputy Energy Secretary Dave Turk will join the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation later this year as director of its environment program.

Turk, who served as the Energy Department’s second-in-command for most of the Biden administration, is slated to start the new position Dec. 1, the foundation announced Monday.

He’ll replace Jonathan Pershing, another veteran of the Biden administration, in the role. Pershing led the foundation’s environment program from 2017 until 2021 and returned in 2022 after working with special presidential envoy for climate John Kerry on international climate negotiations.

Turk hopes to build “upon the incomparable legacy of Jonathan Pershing,” he wrote on LinkedIn on Monday. Turk and Pershing will serve together for a transition period before Pershing departs, the foundation said.
