Geoffrey Pyatt, who served in a top position at the State Department under the Biden administration, is launching a new energy and critical minerals practice at the strategic advisory firm McLarty Associates.

Pyatt, a Biden appointee who served as assistant secretary of State for energy resources, is launching the practice after serving more than three decades in public service. The firm said the practice will help empower companies across a range of sectors to navigate the increasingly dynamic global landscape of energy and critical minerals.

Pyatt, who also served as an ambassador under the Trump and Obama administrations, said in a statement that 35 years as a diplomat, nearly nine as an ambassador and the last three years as the nation’s chief energy diplomat “left me with a strong real-world understanding of public-private synergy.”

“Few things will move markets or drive geopolitics more significantly in the next decade than energy and critical materials, and I’m looking forward to helping our clients succeed in this dynamic environment,” Pyatt said.
