It’s not clear why Puesh Kumar stepped down or who will take over the office tasked with ensuring the security of the nation’s energy infrastructure.

Puesh Kumar, the head of the Energy Department’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response, has left his position, the agency confirmed to POLITICO.

Big operation: It’s not clear why Kumar stepped down or who will take over for him in leading the office tasked with ensuring the security of the nation’s energy infrastructure.

“I can confirm Puesh Kumar made the decision to depart the Department of Energy,” Ben Dietderich, press secretary for the Energy Department, said Tuesday. “We thank him for his service.”

No further details: Dietderich did not immediately respond to questions about when Kumar departed, or who is leading CESER in the interim in Kumar’s absence. According to CESER’s website, Lili Colon — previously the second in seniority to Kumar — currently serves as the principal deputy director of CESER.
