PARIS — French utility giant Engie’s Chief Executive Catherine MacGregor has lambasted the far-right National Rally party’s energy platform as “bad for France.”
“We cannot let these ideas that are bad for France, for the energy security of the country, for renewables … crystalize and take shape,” she said to an association of French business journalists Tuesday.
That damning assessment came after meeting with National Rally leader Marine Le Pen at a dinner attended by top CEOs in early April.
MacGregor said she agreed to the meeting in an effort to “educate” the party leadership and deter them from an exit from the European energy market.
