Brittany Kelm, one of the White House’s top liaisons with the oil and gas industry, is leaving the administration for a position at Sable Offshore Corp., the oil producer that the White House aided in restarting a set of controversial oil platforms off California’s Central Coast earlier this year.
Kelm, who started at the Interior Department before moving to the White House’s National Energy Dominance Council as senior policy adviser for oil and gas last May, will depart the administration Friday, according to the White House.
The Trump administration invoked the Defense Production Act earlier this year to help Sable restart a pipeline system shut down after a spill in 2015 over the objections of state and local authorities. The company has also pushed the administration to establish a West Coast strategic petroleum reserve.
Kelm will head the Washington office as vice president of policy and commercial for the Houston-based firm, the White House said. The move was first reported by Axios. Sable did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
