Native American tribes in Utah announced a new coalition Tuesday formed to push back against efforts to shrink the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

The Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Inter-Tribal Coalition includes the Hopi Tribe, the Navajo Nation, the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians, the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and the Zuni Tribe.

The group’s formation comes as the Trump administration is widely expected to redraw the boundaries of national monuments or make other alterations.
