The Trump administration announced Wednesday it is appealing a judge’s refusal to dismiss clean energy developers’ challenge to federal policies targeting wind and solar projects.

The notice of appeal came one day after Judge Denise Casper of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts issued an order reiterating her prior findings that the renewable energy developers had standing to bring their suit and were likely to succeed in their challenge.

Renew Northeast and other regional wind and solar developers are challenging five Interior Department and Army Corps of Engineers policies, including a memorandum requiring senior Interior officials to review authorizations for wind and solar projects.

The policies are part of a broader effort to hinder renewable energy development as the Trump administration seeks to bolster domestic production of oil, natural gas and coal.
