A conservative think tank launched by veterans of the first Trump administration is refilling its top ranks after its leaders were tapped for new gigs in the executive branch.
The America First Policy Institute, formed in the wake of President Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss, announced a new leadership roster this week after the new Trump administration depleted the group’s ranks by poaching AFPI staff to serve as Cabinet officials and senior White House advisers.
Greg Sindelar, CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, is stepping in as AFPI’s interim president and CEO, the group announced.
David Bernhardt, who served as Interior secretary during the first Trump administration, first joined the think tank in 2021 as chair of AFPI’s Center For American Freedom. He retains that role in addition to his new post as executive vice president.
