President Donald Trump and his team celebrated Elon Musk at a Cabinet meeting Wednesday as Musk prepares to scale back his role with the government-downsizing DOGE team.

“You opened up a lot of eyes as to what could be done, and we just want to say thank you very much,” Trump told Musk at a White House Cabinet meeting Wednesday. “You’re invited to stay as long as you want,” Trump said, adding that at some point, Musk “wants to get back home to his cars.”

Musk has signaled plans to cut back on his work with the Department of Government Efficiency in the coming weeks. He told Tesla investors in a call last week that he expects the time he’s spending with DOGE will soon “drop significantly.”
