President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday calling for the reversal of a Biden-era efficiency rule in a bid to end the “war on water pressure and make America’s showers great again.”
The order, which echoes a plan from Trump’s first term, calls for Energy Secretary Chris Wright to rescind a 2021 rule that limited showerheads to spraying 2.5 gallons of water per minute. In that rule, the Biden administration relied on a bipartisan law signed in 1992 by then-President George H.W. Bush setting the water limits.
Trump claims that the Biden rule was overly complicated and misinterpreted the original statute.
“I like to take a nice shower to take care of my beautiful hair,” Trump said in the Oval Office before signing, saying he has to stand in the shower for 15 minutes to get wet because of efficient equipment that drips. It’s “ridiculous,” he said.
