President Donald Trump is boasting about his administration’s early moves to fire government employees as he and his team are celebrating his administration’s early moves and pledging more sweeping changes to come.
“After a lifetime of unelected bureaucrats stealing your paychecks, attacking your values and trampling your freedoms, we’re stopping their gravy train, ending their power trip and telling thousands of corrupt, incompetent and unnecessary deep-state bureaucrats: You’re fired. Get the hell out of here,” Trump said Tuesday night at a rally in Warren, Michigan, to mark his first 100 days in office.
Trump’s sharp criticisms of government employees come after the administration has already made deep cuts to the size of the federal workforce, with plans to downsize the federal bureaucracy even further. The administration so far has moved to fire broad swathes of newly hired federal employees, offered incentives for workers to leave their jobs and announced new policies to make it easier to fire government workers.
Trump also gathered his Cabinet on Wednesday for a White House meeting where agency bosses outlined their early moves to slash regulations and reorganize departments.
