An influential think tank that helped galvanize Washington to back expanded nuclear power is blasting the Trump administration for closing the door to cooperation with Europe.
A report, released this week by Third Way, gathered insights from North American and European private companies, nongovernmental organizations and policymakers. Backed by funding from Bill Gates and support from Silicon Valley tech executives, Third Way led a decadelong campaign to reshape Democratic policy and public opinion in favor of advanced nuclear energy.
The new paper doesn’t mince words.
“The overarching conclusion of our research is that Trump Administration policies have blunted every major competitive edge that the U.S. has to carve out a transatlantic nuclear energy market,” the report reads.
