EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said the conservative activist’s influence will “only grow” after he was killed Wednesday.

In August, Energy Secretary Chris Wright appeared on Charlie Kirk’s podcast to discuss the Trump administration’s “energy dominance” agenda and climate science.

Less than a month later, Wright is among the senior Trump administration officials mourning the conservative activist who was shot and killed Wednesday at an appearance at a college campus in Utah.

“Charlie Kirk was an exceptional American,” Wright posted on social media Wednesday. “Sadly, a violent ignorance took from us today a towering figure striving only to reinvigorate the American spirit.”

Kirk, 31, who was a close ally of President Donald Trump and founder of the conservative nonprofit Turning Point USA, praised Wright’s early tenure as Energy secretary during the Aug. 19 interview.
