It’s hard to know what former President Donald Trump thinks about climate change.

Asked during a Univision town hall Wednesday night whether he still believes climate change is a “hoax,” Trump offered a three-minute response praising his own administration, criticizing Democrats’ policies, dismissing concerns about rising oceans, and warning about nuclear weapons and a third World War.

He did not answer the question.

Trump’s rambling response Wednesday is the latest in a series of inconsistent answers from the former president about his views on climate science. He posted on social media in 2012, “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” He said in a 2018 interview, “I don’t think it’s a hoax. … But I don’t know that it’s man-made.”
