BRUSSELS — Britain’s secretary of state for business and trade, Peter Kyle, said today that the U.K. and the European Union should explore a technology partnership along the lines of the one Britain signed with the U.S.
Speaking at an economic security conference in Brussels, Kyle said that the Technology Prosperity Deal with the U.S., which was signed in September of last year, had led to £300 billion worth of commercial activity across the Atlantic.
“I do not see why we can’t do a similar kind of deal with the EU,” the business secretary said.
However, he stressed that moving at a faster pace would be crucial. “We did [the U.S. deal] in three months,” said Kyle.
