LONDON — Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s government has brought forward a review of mandated electric vehicle sales targets for automakers.
The review, announced Friday, had been scheduled for 2027.
The move comes amid sustained calls from the U.K.’s auto industry to relax increasingly strict targets meant to spur domestic car and commercial EV production.
Britain is currently on track to phase out purely combustion engines by 2030 under the zero emissions vehicle mandate.
