Utah Republicans are following through with their intention to repeal a Biden-era land use plan for the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Rep. Celeste Maloy and Sen. Mike Lee, chair of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, on Wednesday introduced a resolution of disapproval against the plan under the Congressional Review Act.

It’s the latest of several efforts by this Congress to use the rule-killing law, signed by President Bill Clinton, to undo plans governing drilling, mining, recreation and other activities on public lands.

Maloy said in a statement that a previous 2020 plan “was built with local communities, balanced conservation with access, and reflected the realities of life in southern Utah.”
