Oregon voters this week will get to select a likely successor to a longtime progressive Democrat and will also choose candidates in two races that could determine control of the House.
In the 5th District, first-term Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, a Republican, flipped a seat that had long been held by a centrist Democrat.
In another race, Democrat Andrea Salinas, a Democrat, will hope to defend her seat in a district that was created in 2022. Both are expected to win their primary races Tuesday.
In the heavily Democratic 3rd District voters will choose a candidate to succeed retiring Democratic Rep. Earl Blumenauer, who has served for nearly three decades.
